It’s no secret that checking your own credit score can be confusing and time-consuming. Your credit score impacts everything from how much you’ll pay for your mortgage to whether you’re approved for any credit cards or loans.
If you have bad credit, you are at risk for many different types of problems when it comes to handling your money. You perhaps are wondering about where you can go to get your credit score for free. Consider these options when you are prepared to check out your credit rating.
Credit Karma:
It is a free service from TransUnion and Equifax that saves you from entering in a credit card number when you register — it’s completely 100% free! Credit Karma allows you to monitor your scores and reports from TransUnion and Equifax, receive alerts when something happens to your report, track your latest credit score changes over time, and get customized tips for improvement.
Credit(dot)com:
The best thing about Credit(dot)com is that it’s free and easy to use. They also supply you with two free credit scores updated every month. The site also offers a free credit report card that shows how the information from your credit report affects your score and provides tips for improving your score.
WalletHub:
Credit reports are available with no strings attached. WalletHub provides consumers with free credit scores through TransUnion and the TransUnion VantageScore, with daily monitoring for identity theft protection and daily credit alerts sent directly to your inbox.
Discover Card:
You can get this score online in your free TransUnion FICO score each month on your monthly statement. If you haven’t signed up yet for online access, you can contact the number on the back of your card for help setting up an account that will give you access to your TransUnion FICO score.
Barclaycard:
Barclaycard customers can receive a free FICO score on their monthly statements. The tool also includes information on what factors affect your credit scores (credit utilization, the portion of your available credit that’s in use; payment history, how often you pay on time; age of accounts; and total balances).
Capital One Card:
Capital One’s CreditWise program allows anyone, not just cardholders, to have access to their credit score. This option gives you the chance to be alerted of any changes in your credit score and overall financial health.
